Here in WWRC, we are firm believers in reaching out and giving back to the community. As our tagline suggests, “We Simply Improve Everything“, and that includes our commitment to improve the lives of those in need. Here are some contributions we have made to create a difference to the communities around us.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The third WWRC Malaysia charity golf tournament, hosted at Kota Permai Golf & Country in Kota Kemuning, raised RM 400,000.
Seven organizations benefited from the noble cause, namely SJK (C) Chung Hua in Kota Kemuning, Shelter Home in Petaling Jaya, Hospice Klang, Epic Home in Bandar Sunway, Siloam House in Karak, Pahang, Rapha Home in Kuantan and SJK (C) Layang – Layang Johore Bahru.
Speaking at the event in Kota Kemuning, WWRC chief executive officer Teoh Weng Chai said they were humble and pleased by the response the tournament received and added that intended to maintain the charity golf event as one of the programmes of their community social responsibilities (CSR).
“The recent haze situation that gripped the Klang Valley was not a deterrent to the players as there was full turnout of over 120 enthusiastic and charitable golfers,” he said.
“Many of the participants were business partners and friends of the WWRC Group, who had a good time whilst also contributing to a charitable cause.
“The organizing committee was pleasantly surprised to record that the total amount raised from the charity gold and dinner amounted to over RM 400,000,” added Teoh.
“Credit here must go to the generosity of the charity sponsors and participants, who knew that the charity organizations were probably in even greater need this time as things are getting tougher and many things are getting expensive.”
WWRC Malaysia, whose principal activities are in the distribution of chemicals to the coating, adhesive, construction, plastics, rubber, food, personal care and polyurethane industries, mobilized a sizable number of its staff to help with organizing the event in order to ensure that everything went off smoothly, Teoh said.
On 14 November 2014, we organised a charity golf tournament to raise funds for different charity groups. About 120 golfers (30 flights) took part in this worthwhile friendly competition at Kotai Permai Golf Country Club, while 180 people attended our charity dinner in the evening. Through the generosity of our partners and friends, we managed to raise approximately RM500,000. This raised amount will go a long way to helping the community be a better place.
As part of our annual tradition, WWRC, together with some of our partners, visited the Bright Hill Evergreen Home on 22 March 2014. We joined them in their favourite game of Bingo and distributed Ang Paos as a blessing of health and luck. On that day, the elderly folks were all smiles and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were glad to have been able to bring some joy and delight to their lives.
